CPAP supply

As a freelance writer, I can tell you how important it is to get a good night’s sleep before you start to write.  When you are well rested, it is so much easier to write a coherent, well-organized article than when you are tired.  And since article marketing is often how people are first introduced to your business, it is particularly important that that first impression be a good one.

The human body isn’t made to function on six hours or less of sleep a night.  In fact, I recently read something that said before electricity, people typically slept as much as ten hours a night.  So if you consider for how relatively small a time we have had electricity, it is pretty obvious that our bodies were made to get much more rest than we currently give them.

Additionally, sleep disorders can be a real problem.  Even if you spend eight hours in bed, it doesn’t  mean you sleep — or sleep well — for that entire time.  Insomniacs may need medication or other sleep aids to help them fall asleep, and people with sleep apnea may need CPAP machines to avoid their sleep from being interrupted multiple times a night.

All of this has a huge impact on how your brain functions, and how well you are able to write.  Additionally, many people find that there is an ideal time of day for them to write, a time when they are the most alert and productive.  Do you work better in the morning, afternoon, or at night?  Your answer to this question may have a lot to do with how much sleep you are getting, and what time you typically wake up every day.

Whatever time of day you decide to write, just be sure that you are well rested, so that you begin writing with your brain at its best.

If you want to make money writing articles, you have to have (or at least understand) the passion for what the subject matter is that you are writing about. That sounds too obvious, doesn’t it? Well ask any pro writer and they will tell you that it is easy to lose focus in this regard. Sometimes we get so caught up in things like “keywords” that we lose focus of the material we are writing about.

The next thing you know, you just pumped out a big article about this or that. Then you proof read it, and find that you just slammed the junk you were supposed to be selling! Oops… that’s not what the boss wanted! After all, the clients themselves may end up reading the drivel you just posted.

I have had some assignments that were less than exciting, so I know it can be difficult. Try to write multiple posts about paper shredders and you will quickly see that fun and fresh material can be hard to come up with. But you must keep it positive! Sometimes if I have writer’s block I’ll go to YouTube and search for my subject there. You can usually find a video about anything there. Then just write about what you watched!

I was hired to be kind of a lackey at work.  You know:  make coffee, file, deliver things between the principals of the company, make dinner reservations.  That kind of thing.  Then someone discovered that I can write.

Now I am the official article writer of the company.  The WHOLE company.  It’s huge!  I am responsible for being the face of the company online, at least as far as publications go.  It’s quite an honor and much harder than I’d anticipated, as there is more to getting articles published online than you might think.

Still, I’m pretty excited about my new gig in article marketing for my company!

My friend’s new job at some huge technology gadget company is to make sure there are articles published about the company each month.  She says it’s a great way to get the word out about the company and any new stuff they’re creating.

So every month, she has to come up with some new and excitiing topic to write about; sometimes two or three times a month.  And that’s only the beginning. Then she has to get them published. I don’t know if she does it online or if they’re print publications but still, what a lot of work that would be!

I can see why some people would farm this out to a company that specializes in this; one that has a staff of writers or something.  But whatever, she seems to really like it alot and says she’s not sick of it yet.  I just think it sounds like a lot of hard work!

For those businesses out there who think they can write articles about their business and turn into recognized subject matter experts overnight are sadly misguided.  I used to be one of those people.

I have a small backyard decor business, and had heard articles can get the word out about your business.  Not so easy.  First, it’s not just what you write but how you write it and where you put it. The first part is easy:  most businesses can write about themselves to problem.

How to write it?  Not so easy.  You need to focus on your keywords and link back to your site and all other techniques to make it  valuable online.  And then where to post it?  Also not so easy.  Not all article publishing sites take every article.  I suggest you do your research before launching this endeavor.
