Professional Writing 101
Filed Under Writing | 4 Comments
If you have decided to make the transition to being a professional writer, there are a couple of things that are very important to never take for granted. There are certain things in this industry that are universal. And by avoiding two common downfalls that ruin up and coming writers, you will be more apt to succeed.
Professional writing assignments are just that: Assignments. One thing that this means is that you have a deadline which is no different than having a due date in school. Delivering your finished product without being tardy is one of the most important things that you can do. Never miss a deadline. Turning in a piece late is worse than turning in lackluster work.
Another thing that goes hand in hand with the writing assignments you had in school is originality. You have to turn in your own work. Getting caught cheating in school is bad. Getting caught plagiarizing as a professional writer is something that can end your career! Once your reputation is ruined, there is no coming back. It’s not worth it, so just don’t do it. Both of these things seem like common sense, so use common sense and you should do just fine.
